Five Eyes Mental Health Research and Innovation Collaboration (MHRIC) Annual Meeting

Atlanta, Georgia – November 13 and 14, 2022

On November 13 and 14, 2022, the Five Eyes MHRIC held their annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The hybrid meeting with representatives from all Five Eye nations covered relevant topics that focused on moral injury, anger and military to civilian transition, COVID-19, military and Veteran suicide, and the conflict in Ukraine. During this in-person meeting, each country brings forward updates on the research being done in their country on the topic being discussed. The discussion is then followed by collaboration on a paper that could advise Ministers of the Five Eyes nations. The group has published seven papers, with another several on the way. During the 2022/2023 reporting period, the group recognized the need for plain language summaries on each paper to reach a larger audience. A total of 6 summaries have been completed.

The Five Eyes MHRIC is an international consortium that focuses on advancing mental health research and developing policies and practices that enhance the lives of military personnel, Veterans, and their families. Bringing together thought leaders and experts from the Five Eyes nations - Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America - the team of experts provides high-level, evidence-based guidance to ensure research priorities, best practices, and emerging issues are addressed and progressing within the Five Eyes countries.

A Five Eyes MHRIC website will be launched in February/March of 2024. To receive details, sign up for CIMVHR’s mailing list.
