In May of 2022, Professor David Forbes, Director of Phoenix Australia Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health, was invited by CIMVHR and the Department of Psychology at Queen’s University to be a distinguished lecturer. The lecture titled Current and future directions in facilitating recovery following psychological trauma addressed the emerging research directions in key areas of trauma related mental health across a broad range of trauma exposed populations. This included the assessment of a range of transdiagnostic features such as moral injury and problematic anger and the identification of risk and protective factors influencing longitudinal trajectories of mental health, highlighting relevance for intervention. The presentation also focused on emerging research in interventions, from prevention and early intervention through to innovations in treatment and models of care.
